It wasn't until this past weekend that I managed to find the energy and the time to try to put a serious dent in this project. I know some people would consider this a form of torture, but each morning when I pick up Boxy (cause who doesn't try to sneak in a few stitches while they wait for their coffee to finish brewing??) I put a locking stitch marker at the beginning of the round so that I can see how much I've knit by the end of the day. When your knitting time is lacking, this can be torturous!
So imagine my surprise when I measured my progress this morning. I'm one round away from 14 inches! Sweet! Slow and steady really does win the race!
I still haven't decided yet just how long to make the body. I have no idea how much the fabric will stretch in length since a gauge swatch can't tell you precisely what gravity will do. The game plan for now is to knit another half inch and then try it on. I think the magic number will be somewhere between 14.5 and 15 inches. I'm in no rush to decide though. I really didn't think I'd get this far so soon. So for now, I'm just going to keep on cruisin'!

Sooo pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nat! :)
DeleteGorgeous colour! I have a project for Imogen I'm plugging away on lik this. A few rows here and there. It's only small but it's plain stockinette so it's a little boring.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kat! I actually don't mind the plain stockinette, it makes for good movie watching knitting (or when I attempt to read and knit at the same time!!). Can't wait to see your FO for Imogen!
