Lest We Forget

Soldiers with a Poppy
I'm going to be posting this week's Project 365 photos tomorrow and instead will be taking the day today to remember those who gave their lives, have made or are currently making sacrifices to serve their country during war and conflict.  All so that we could have better lives and live each day in peace.  We'll be taking the Munchkin to the Legislative Building to watch the annual wreath-laying Remembrance Day ceremony at the cenotaph.

One of Brett's Grandfathers was actually on the beaches of Normandy during WWII and I've only recently learned about how one of my Grandmothers had fled China during that war for the safety of herself and her family.  She left everything she knew in order to escape the poverty and dangers that the war was causing, and was hoping to give her children a chance at a better life (even though during that time being a non-Caucasian was extremely difficult and Asians weren't even being treated as second class citizens...more like vermin...but I won't get started on all that).

Soldiers with a Poppy - Full

Anyhoo, I hope all my Canadian and American readers (since it's Veterans Day today too) will take a moment today to remember those who gave their lives, and/or to thank a veteran or those who are still in the service of their country.  Take a moment of silence.  Wear a poppy.  Show your support.

We Shall Not Forget ♥
