Prizes

Sneak Peak
Did I ever tell you that I was going to be donating a door prize for Knit City?  Well...I am!  So if you're planning on going to Knit City this weekend, you could potentially win a few project bags from me!  A zippered box bag AND a drawstring bag!!  I'm super excited that my bags are on the door prize list next to some really amazing prizes.  Haven't seen the list yet?  Check it out here.  My bags are only 1 of 2 project bag related prizes (the other is a Tom Bihn Swift Bag...I am nowhere even near the calibre of those bags...more like my project bags dream of growing up to be a Tom Bihn bag!).

But I have a dilemma.  A small box bag?  Or a large sweater sized box bag?  Crazy fabric?  Or cute print?  Should the bags be somewhat matchy matchy?  Or completely different?  What colours?  I think I should steer away from pink, as I know there are quite a lot of people out there that can't handle the boldness of pink.  Should I play it safe and do something more monotoned?  I'm seriously hemming and hawing over these questions!  What do you think?

In the meantime, here are some peeks at what I've been working on these past few days:

And my personal favourite of the bunch (gee, I wonder why):

Sneak Peek 2

I really want to keep this one for myself but if I were to have my way I would keep them all!  Not that I don't have enough project bags already!  I think I have enough fabric to make a few more, so I'll let this one go.  I was kind of hoping that the weather would be good today so that I could snap some photos of the finished bags so that I can list them, but I have a feeling that it's going to have to wait until after Knit City.  Boo erns!  My goal was to have them up earlier this week but I had forgotten all about Thanksgiving!  Le sigh.  Oh well, I've gotten more done these past few days then what I've been able to go these past few months.  Yay for that, and yay for the Munchkin being able to play on his own for longer than 15 minutes at a time!

Ok, now onto the next challenge...how to take decent photos now that the fall weather is finally here and the lighting will be crap for the next 5-6 months...

  1. Oh I did see that yesterday! So exciting!!! I know a bunch of the Tuesday knitters were wanting bags from you. They're talking about putting in special requests. You, my friend, are in high demand. Whatever you pick will be just fine. Though I'm curious to see what the bag in the first picture, on the bottom (below the gray chevron with yellow edging) looks like... :) Your fabric matching is always so spot on!

    1. Aw Mary!! You're making me blush! ♥

The bag in question has an owl print on it. Sadly, one of them is already taken!

    2. Owl print, eh? You have peaked my curiousity! Will have to keep an eye out on that shop update. :)

  2. I'm just dying to get my hands on one of your project bags, Melissa - my knitting projects are ashamed of the ugly old Ziploc bags they currently live in. Are you planning a shop update in the near future? Hope so :)

    1. Hahaha Jacqueline! I think every knitter starts with a Ziplock bag. I know I did!! So they have a special spot in my heart. ;)

I am DEFINITELY planning a shop update...most likely next week! I was hoping to be able to get more bags sewn up beforehand, but we'll see how much time I've got!

    2. I shouldn't be so mean to the Ziploc bags - they definitely get the job done without complaint. I actually do have two project bags, but they're awkward sizes - a mid-sized one that's too big for a small project, but too small for a big project, and one that works for socks or mittens as long as the yarn cake isn't too big.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to your shop update Melissa!
