No, not really. The weather got really nice and hot here and things got a bit sweaty. I made sad attempts at trying to knit but it didn't matter. My hands got too sweaty and yarn and needles just started sticking to me, it really messed with my gauge. I had to reserve knitting to late at night when it was much cooler and even by then I would only get a little bit of knitting accomplished before I lost the fight with eyelids and had to go to bed. Now, the weather is still pretty warm but I can get away with knitting a few rounds here and there. I'm determined to get these socks finished before the month is over. Even though I absolutely love knitting with this yarn and I seriously cannot get enough of this colourway, I definitely don't want these socks still on my needles when the cooler weather comes rolling around! I fear that if I leave this project for too long I'll get blinded by something new and shiny and these socks will get pushed deeper and deeper into the depths of the proverbial knitting basket. I can't let that happen now, can I? Nope! That would be blasphemy!
Anyhoo, ever since I got my hot little hands on this skein of amazeballs self-striping sock yarn, I've gotten comments and messages left and right about where I had obtained it. In case you've forgotten, the oh so lovely Em of Everything Old had custom dyed this for me because she rocks. And guess what? Now you can own a skein of it too! That's right! I asked Em if she could dye up another fabulous skein for me that I can give away to one lucky reader on this here blog!! Are you excited?? I know I am! So...what time is it?

ReplyDeleteWhoops. Forgot to say what I like to knit. (Don't accidentally count me twice!) I love cardigans and cables and any combination of the two! (culabrat on Ravelry)
ReplyDeleteI love to knit everything! Shawls, socks, sweaters, hats, gloves, you name it! Usually, I'm more attracted to the yarn and wait for it to tell me what it wants to be and that's what I knit. This yarn is already talking to me out loud and it wants to be beautiful socks, of course, like your pair ;)
ReplyDeleteCecileinIndiana on Ravelry
I'm currently obsessing over shawls, with either a little or a lot of lace. This yarn would make a pretty awesome one! RavId: amandalyna
ReplyDeleteI'm a sock fiend, you know me :p however, there is something to be said about all other garments knit
ReplyDeleteIn a good fingering weight yarn! So perhaps I'm gauge biased more than garment biased :p
I am Stitchmimi on ravelry.
ReplyDeleteI have never knit socks, but have really really thinking lately about trying a pair. Instagram has been so inspiring!
I am a sweater knitter. I love knitting garments that flatter. The process of making a unique and flattering piece is the most gratifying part of knitting for me!
Ohhh, I'm in please... I could use a pair of badass socks. :) Although mostly, I knit sweaters, sweaters, and more sweaters. Because, hey, it's cold up here.

ReplyDeletedude. we could be sock sisters. i love love love yours! and you know me, i'll knit anything if the yarn is right!
ReplyDeleteOh, man, I love that yarn. Fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteIt used to be that I would say my favorite thing to knit were socks, but as I've been on a bit of a cardigan/pullover kick lately, I have no idea! I still have tons of socks in my queue.
ReplyDeleteI'm a diehard sock fan, but small triangular shawls are way up there too! I can't get enough of either but shawls make for faster satisfaction because I only need to knit 1!
ReplyDeleteAlso, Applesin on Rav <3
DeleteI have recently discovered the joy of self striping yarn. I would love to win this Badass skein! I would make socks. Boring knit but really, really fabulous socks!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing to knit is baby sweaters. BUt I have recently discovered the joy of knitting shawls. I just need to figure out what to do with them once I have finished knitting them.
Jacflash on Ravelry.
DeleteSocks are (I think) still my favorite things to knit, but, I've been on a huge sweater kick lately. Socks totally have a competitor!
ReplyDeleteDetapril on Rav
I love knitting. That is all.
ReplyDeletei like hats mostly. Shawls and baby sweaters, but i love the (almost) instant gratification.
ReplyDeleteI love knitting baby sweaters, instantly gratifying and so cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm on a bit of a sock kick right now, and have been dying to knit with some self-striping sock. With that said, I'm not sure I can wait - I'll be checking out Em's booth at Fibrations this weekend!

I am just finishing up my first project with self striping yarn and I am similarly enamoured! Most recently I have stalled out on a cardigan (drat the button band!), but have been loving sock knitting. Really though I like it all!
ReplyDeleteOMG - I totally tried to break my "no new sock yarn" rule for this yarn. But it wasn't there (I forgot it was custom dyed). And now I might win it??? I am so there.
ReplyDeletenogryzloATgmailDOTcom
I love hats--quick and cute!
ReplyDeleteI DIE for this yarn! Right now my favorite thing to knit are socks, but the pair I'm working on hurt my hands a bit so I'm breaking up the task with some good old fashioned cowl knitting. Oh, and I'm addicted to hexipuffs too!
ReplyDeleteRavID: MLEKropper
In the summer my favorite things to knit are definetely socks because they're tiny and portable, no sweat on your lab. But I also just bought the Beekeeper's Quilt pattern. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteRavelry: taschenmaedchen
I love knitting for my baby
ReplyDeleteI love to knit socks but I'm now in the mittens mode. I've been knitting fingerless mitts all summer!
ReplyDeleteRav: zenitude
Right now I'm into knitting sweaters. It has been hard working on them in this heat so if it gets too sweaty I switch to knitting mittens. Fair Isle mittens to be exact. I love doing colour work! Hats are my all time favourite knit. I would love to win some beautiful yarn! Rav name is MrsOhh.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving sweaters right about now. Especially cardigans. I used to be the accessories queen, but as I accumulated more yarn I had to dream bigger.
ReplyDeleteMy ravelry name is Ashiepoo22
Love this yarn. Would make great fingerless gloves for my niece.

I love cabled projects, but I'm not currently knitting any right now. I'm knitting a lacy cowl with a very soft yarn called heirloom from sweet fiber.
ReplyDeleteLove these socks! Love Em's yarn!!
ReplyDeleteI can't stop thinking about Domestic Badass hexipuffs,
or Domestic Badass sweaters for rocks,
or Domestic Badass just about anything.
Such a fun colourway ~

MelissaHB (Prairie-Knitter)
I'm a huge fan of socks, and cabled sweaters... although I still have to learn how to cable without a needle, because that really slows me down.
ReplyDeleteI haven't knit much in the last weeks-- it's been sticky hot here, too. Hope it's knitting weather soon for both of us!
-Megan (cleancup on Rav)
