Setting Up Camp

Canada Day 2012
Happy Monday Friends!  Yesterday was Canada Day, and while the little family and I sported matching red Canada shirts we kept the day pretty low-key.  We live right by the Parliament building and the inner harbour so we really don't need to venture too far to catch the festivities but we tend to stay away from them anyways.  We don't think we're missing out on anything since we can watch the fireworks from the comfort of our front door (yay for not having to find parking!) and generally like to hang out where ever it's not too busy.

This is actually the first time in I think 4 years where the 3 of us have spent Canada Day together.  Normally the Munchkin and I head to the Kootenays with my cousin to spend a week with my family.  This year it just didn't happen.  Brett normally goes camping with "The Boys", but due to unforeseen circumstances he was unable to join them this year.  Oh well, there's always next year!  And yay for being able to have extra family time together!

Another reason to do a happy dance: Brett got a few extra days off from work!  So what are we going to do with those days?  We're going camping!  We've packed up the tent and sleeping bags, bought marshmallows and trail mix, and I made sure I had a few mindless knitting projects tucked into one of our backpacks.  This will be the Munchkin's second camping trip but first time sleeping in a tent in his own little sleeping bag.  I can't wait to see how the Munchkin reacts to camping, being in the middle of nowhere, and most of all spending the entire time outdoors.  Both Brett and I have a feeling that he's going to love it!

So I'll be offline and unplugged for a few days.  I'll be back Friday, maybe Thursday depending on when we leave the campground.  'Til then, have a fabulous week!  ♥
