Day 97 :: June 8, 2012
Taken with my iPhone
It was 11:30pm when I realized that I didn't take a photo for the what do you do when the lighting is crap and nothing you do can make a photo look even remotely decent?  You take an artsy fartsy photo using an iPhone app, that's what!  I can't remember what app I used, but this is my teapot and one of my favourite mugs (I have a lot of favourite mugs)

Day 98 - June 9, 2012
Day 98 :: June 9, 2012
SweetGeorgia Yarns :: Twinkle Toes :: June Sock Yarn Club colour "Magnolia"
Trying to capture the gorgeous sheen of this yarn, which is composed of 50/50 Merino and Tencel, as well as the varying shades of the muted pinks

Oops!  A day late, but hey...better late than never, right?  Due to the exhausting tantrum-filled week with the Munchkin I really didn't get around to taking any photos outside.  I'm not too worried about it though, as I have all summer to get out and take more "nature-y" type of photos.  That is, if the weather ever gets nice and warms up around here!  I can't complain too much though, since I find that bright cloudy days (kind of an oxymoron there) are the best for photos and is when you can really capture the true colour of yarn.  I always thought cloudy days were horrible for photography purposes, since they can cause your photos to have shadows, weird colour overcasts, and be dark over all (at least, that's how my photos used to turn out).  But after playing around with the settings on my camera I've discovered that you don't have to settle for any of that.  I've also learned to not make assumptions when looking at photos on the camera's LCD screen and start deleting stuff until I've uploaded everything onto my computer, cause what I thought looked good was actually washed out or blurry and what I thought was a bad photo turned out to be the best of the bunch.

A good lesson to learn.

  1. i love the photos! also, i looove those buttons. where did you find them? i'm determined to grow my button stash. xo

    1. Thanks Rebecca! :) I bought the buttons on etsy a loooong time ago. I didn't have a project planned out for them, but knew I had to have them. I need to grow my button stash too, but fear that I'll get buttons that will never get used because they are either too plain/fancy/or pink. :p

  2. Those buttons and bears are super cute! That colorful polish for nails is interesting, I wonder how it looks on.
    I know all about tantrums and cloudy days. Great pics!

    1. Thanks Alma! :)

      I can't wait to try out the nail polishes, they'll definitely be interesting, that's for sure! As for the tantrums...ugh!

  3. the gummy bear looks like he needs a hug :(

    1. Hahaha....he DID...but then I ate him. ;)

    2. did you know that the majority of women who've had children eat gummibears by biting their heads off first?

    3. No, I did not know that. I must be weird then...cause I just shove the entire gummy bear in my mouth! ;)

  4. I love your photos! I need to do something similar and start taking photos daily myself. Practice makes perfect, right?

    1. Hi Joelle! Thank you so much! :D

      I think you should definitely start taking photos on a daily basis, I know I've definitely gotten much more comfortable using my camera than I have when I first started this project. Although, with that said I think I need to start "challenging" myself and get out of my comfort zone again. :)
