Random Enough?

I wasn't planning on posting today.  I was hoping to get a bunch of stuff done today but it's been a nut house around here and it's not even noon.  The morning has been very...eventful.  Which then made me want to blog about it.  While the second pot of coffee percolates.  And as the day wears on it seems that more and more random things are happening.  Oh boy...

- Brett is away this week, which means several things: I get the king size bed all to myself, something that I haven't had the luxury of in well over 5 years; "Me time" doesn't exist this week; I'm not sure how much crafting I'll be able to accomplish since I'm pretty sure I'm going to be quite worn out by the time 8pm rolls around.

- this morning the Munchkin woke up a little after 5am.  TWO HOURS before his normal wake up time.  Poor thing had a bad dream, woke up confused, and sat there in his room balling his eyes out.

- I'm SO glad that I decided to prep the coffee maker last night!  I don't know what made me do it, but I had an inkling that if I didn't grind my beans and add water to the maker before bed that I would most likely pay for it in the morning.

- it was so nice to wake up and just press the 'on' button for the coffee.  Don't get me wrong, I did stand there for a good 5 minutes staring at the clock.  Blinking.

- whilst trying to get the Munchkin sorted with things to do so that I could attempt to take a "nap" on the couch, he wondered into the kitchen where he got extremely excited and started talking a mile a minute.  See the photo above?  Yeah, that young little peacock was on our deck.  He was coming and going, and sometimes would bring a friend along.  Just for kicks, I'm assuming.

- I don't live that far from Beacon Hill Park, where the petting zoo is.  The peacocks are allowed to roam freely, so I'm not fazed by the sight of them.  I am, however, surprised that they are on my second floor deck.

- 1 peacock can be very loud.  2 peacocks are even louder.  I just keep pouring more coffee into my mug.

- the Munchkin thinks this is the most awesome thing ever and has named the one pictured above "Mack".

- Mack totally creeped me out while I sat at the kitchen table eating toast.  It is now 9am.

- speaking of peacocks, the May shipment of the SweetGeorgia Yarns Sock Yarn Club arrived.  A few days earlier than expected.  I'm in love with it.

- shortly after the discovery of the peacock the Munchkin's foot started to randomly bleed.  A lot.  As in there was a trail of blood leading from the deck door to the kitchen table.  I still don't know what cause it, but there's a tiny little 3mm slit on the bottom of the Munchkin's heel.

- after I cleaned up the Munchkin's foot and the floor, I got a nose bleed.  I haven't had a nose bleed since I was a kid!

- I opened the living room window to get some fresh air into the house.  5 minutes later I heard a bunch of squawking.  A freakin' seagull was on the window sill!  I grabbed a pillow off the couch and one of the plastic pins to the Munchkin's bowling set and tried to shoo it away so that it didn't come into the house.  Wtf?

- since I'm up so early I decided to finally soak and block my Juicy Tart Cardigan (aka Golden Wheat Cardigan) that I had knit and finished months ago, but had lost it under a pile of UFOs.

- I'm glad that it's somewhat cold still so that I can get a few wears out of this before it has to be put away for the summer.  I'm kicking myself for not blocking it sooner cause the colour is simply gorgeous!

- on the topic of knitting, the button bands on Akoya are seriously kicking my butt.  Being the stubborn person I am, yesterday I couldn't put it down and kept trying to make things right.  It now needs to go in time-out before I cut it up and feed it to my neighbour's cat.

- while on the subject of cats, I was looking out the kitchen window and saw that the aforementioned cat is wearing a leash.  And it's tied to a post in the middle of the courtyard.  The leash is super long so that it could go inside the house and putter around the courtyard if it wanted to.  But the thing is, this cat is extremely fat.  Is there really a need for that leash??

Ok, I'm off.  The day is way too gorgeous to stay inside and the Munchkin is getting restless.  Fingers crossed that by the time we get home later in the day the peacocks have decided to stay off my deck.  And that anything else that flies stays away.  And hopefully the randomness will have died down...
