Finished: Thermis

Another cold-weather knitting project done! I don't know what is up with me and knitting items that are meant for fall and winter wear. My camera couldn't really pick up the proper color of the yarn, this is actually a very nice, bright magenta.

This was actually a very easy and fast knit...that is, if I hadn't messed up the first time 'round! I had started knitting this with the recommended needle size and after knitting the first 20 rounds had a sinking feeling that it was going to end up really small and tight. But I purged on, thinking maybe blocking it in the end will help make it to size. Then I had knitted an extra k2, p2 in the waffle pattern, which to me and a few of the ladies of the Tuesday knit night had agreed was quite obvious. So I frogged the row, went home, and decided to frog the whole thing altogether and try again with a bigger needle. I'm thinking I should've done a gauge swatch, but was too lazy to do so. I have not learned from my mistakes in the past of not doing gauge swatches!

This isn't completely finished per se, I have yet to find buttons that are suitable. I had placed the wooden heart buttons purchased from Three Bags Full on it just to show what it's suppose to look like, but didn't want to use these precious buttons for this project. But now that I've seen the wood on this neckwarmer, I'm thinking I should find some dark wooden buttons after all.

I'm not quite sure if I should keep this for myself or if I should put this in the "to be gifted" pile. I have decided to start a little early on Christmas presents, hoping that I can have at least 75% of the gifts I give to be handmade. Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this'll actually happen!
